Six weeks of bicycling and tramping on New Zealand's North Island
Randy and I hiked several days in Tongoriro National Park, and then bicycled around the East Cape and back to Auckland.
Met new friends and old Rovers along the way. Thanks to Marion and Jack in Ohope Beach, Kaye and Gary at their kiwi farm
in Te Puke, Janet in Auckland, and Robyn, Mark and Eitan on the boat in Whangarei for your hospitality!
Backpacking (and not falling off) in the Grand Canyon
In April, Char and I met Randy and Lori for a week of backpacking the Royal Arch Route in the Grand Canyon.
Ed and Kevin joined us for the first couple days.
It was Lori's first Grand trip, and I kept telling her "don't worry, if you get tired, Randy will carry you out"
Fun Times with Relatives
In April, Cousin Tom and I went to Yuma AZ to spend some time with Kaaren and Butch.
Then in July, I met up with Pat and Chuck at Kandi's new home in Pocatello.
In August, cousins Terry and Connor came from Texas to hike, bike, raft and pick up moose-poop.
Ended my family visits in Dallas over Thanksgiving with all of the Anderson family. It was great seeing all of you guys!
Another trip to Canyon Country
May found me once again in the canyons.
This time I joined Craig, Rob and Kathleen for a backpack trip to the Grand Canyon (South Canyon).
Afterwards,we car camped and day hiked in the Vermillion Cliffs, Paria Canyon, and Zion National Park.
Bicycling in Utah, Arizona and Iowa
Lots of "Backside of the Wasatch Front" biking around Summit County this year.
Took ten people on a self-supported bike trip from Kanab UT to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (and back!)
Plus, it was Team Spirits' thirteenth consecutive year at RAGBRAI, the great ride across Iowa.
Unfortunately, Ken Bertrand, pictured here next to Randy, suffered a fatal heart attack just two weeks after returning back to Utah from the ride.
Backpacking in North Cascades National Park
Sigi and I drove from Utah and picked up Shirley in Leavenworth WA
for a week-long backpack trip with gourmet dinners before and after provided by Ranger Bob and Artist Auntie Letitia.
Grand Canyon One Last Time in 2007!
Did some day hikes with Randy on the South Rim,
then went down to Phantom Ranch for several days of volunteer work with the GCHBA.
Day hikes on Hermit Trail, Grandview Trail, South Kaibab to Bright Angel,
and Utah Flats to Upper Phantom Creek.
